Diagnosis?: Were you cultured for strep? If so, and it was positive, azithromycin may not be good enough. We double the regular dose in kids with strep, but don't do it in adults normally, but I wonder, personally, if we should do so. If you are improving then, it takes a while for tonsils to return to normal size. if you still have fever and pain, or no improvement, get checked again.

Tonsillitis: Greetings. The antibiotic may actually be working. A tonsillitis may be best treated with a different antibiotic but they will not necessarily reduce the size quickly. Antiinflammatory medications such as ibuprofen will help. Rinse/gargle with water after meals to help remove bacteria/debris. If after you complete your course, follow up with your family doctor.
