Dysthmia: Frankly - I don't treat dysthymia (pervasive depressive disorder) with pharmacotherapy alone. Have found that most people with dysthymia have a lot of cognitive distortions that keep them feeling depressed. As a result I believe in combining psychotherapy with meds. There is no particular period of time to get sxs under control.
