Could phenobarbital be used as a treatment for the combination of severe rls (whole body, with daytime spasms) and dysthymia. i can't use ssris or tricyclics, cause then the rls goes bezerk. phenobarbitol raises both dopamine and serotonine levels.

Doubtful: Phenobarbital is a calmative, and this type of medication has not been successfully used to treat RLS. Gabapentin has been FDA indicated in branded form as a successfully tested treatment. Because it is so poorly absorbed outside the stomach, HORIZANT(R) was developed, and this form of gabapentin in what got the FDA indication. Add gentle stretching of,legs/feet before bedtime. Good luck
