Percocet: Nice alternative would be to request detox. Opioids can cause itch. Today pain clinics use too many controlled substances and pts never get better or return to meaningful life style. Dr. Portnoy, great pain specialist said if doesn't restore pt to life style domt do it. I am certified pain management- diff than pain meds. We seek non narcotic methods to restore function. Takes time. Easier rnarcot.

Call your doc..: Percocet is just one option and many people having chronic pain can achieve good pain control without narcotic. If it is not helping, why bother taking it? Living with significant pain is challenging and thus you should get re-evaluated by doc for better treatment regimen. The goal may not be total elimination of pain, but reducing it to functional level day in and day out. Please consult doc.
