GERD: It sounds as though you might be suffering from gastro-esophageal reflux, or GERD. GERD causes burning and pain in the center of the chest due to acid from the stomach rising into the esophagus. There are many underlying factors that contribute to this. I suggest an over the counter acid blocker (Tums (calcium carbonate) or Prilosec) for a 2 week period. If your condition persists, you should go back to your doctor.
