The Prilosec can reduce your stomach acid some but not your tendency to reflux. Don't lay down for an hour after meals or snacks. Avoid caffeine and nicotine that loosen the stomach entrance closure and you may reduce symptoms. The irritation/pain can persist & recur as long as your diet/lifestyle lead to reflux.

Treatment with Prilosec should get the esophagitis under good control within a few weeks. If it does not, you may need a different medicine or a higher dose. If you continue to have symptoms, return to your gastroenterologist. Anti-reflux measures are also useful. Good luck.
