Depends on severity: Proair gives quick relief but is short-acting, that's why its called a rescue medication. Qvar is a steroid designed for long-term control of symptoms. Make sure you are using the inhalers correctly as this is the most common reason for poor response! ps talk to your doctor if you are not getting relief.

Depends: Depending on why you are using it....proair typically starts to work within minutes. Qvar isn't used as a rescue medication. If you've started it and use it as prescribed, it typically takes a few days to start working well.
