Afrin (oxymetazoline): Afrin nasal spray if not medically contraindicated will clear your sinuses and save you the discomfort of the pressure change. You may want another dose just before landing if it's a very long flight.

Hard Candy: Suck on a hard candy just before take-off and during descent. If you fly frequently and have issues with pressure, consider placing small pressure equalization tubes.
