A member asked:

My doctor found a 7cm cyst and only offered removal of entire ovary as an option. is that the only normal option? im 40 and only have 1 ovary

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Sometimes it's hard to remove a cyst without removing the entire ovary especially if the cyst is large (greater than 6 cm). However, if you only have one ovary, preserving your ovary should be attempted. Discuss this further with your doctor.
