Injury: It hurts b/c you injured it. Duh, right? You didn't describe mechanism of injury but you might have torn something or stretched it or bruised it. Doesn't sound like you broke or dislocated anything. For now, try RICE (rest, ice, compression & elevation) to keep it from swelling up. If liver & kidneys are ok and you don't have allergies, consider OTC pain meds. See your FamilyDoc if not better.
