Guess work: My optimistic guess is that your thumb isn't fractured, but it would be better to get an x-ray to be sure.

Yes.: Yes. Chance of fracture, or ligament/tendon injury. Three weeks is long enough -get it checked out by your doc or a hand orthopedist. You are young and thumbs are critically important - you don't want to miss an injury that could have long term consequences.
