Debridement: Debridement is to remove anything that may be contributing to your gum disease. Toxins on the root surface of the tooth, infection in the soft tissue, infection and/or pus that may have infiltrated the bone.

Debridement/implant: The term debridement refers to the removal of plaque, calculus, or any other type of debris. In your case, since you have 'horizontal' bone loss, there will probably not be the removal of any bone. As for the implant portion of your question, i would need more information to properly address it. Just based on just some horizontal bone loss, I do not see anything preventing dental implants.

Periodontal surgery: Lanap is laser assisted treatment, but much more literature supports conventional periodontal surgeries. Small incisions & gently reflecting soft tissues from the teeth gives the periodontist visual access to debride or clean root surfaces & either eliminate irregular bone anatomy or regenerate lost bone attachment to teeth. Properly & completely treated perio disease allows for implant placement.

Flap for cleaning.: Bone debridement is simply reflecting the gum to expose the bone for easier cleaning around the tooth root. The procedure will result in gum tissue repair instead of bone regeneration. If you have horizontal bone loss then grafting prognosis is poor. Lanap would be the best treatment of choice since it avoided colatteral damage. You can always graft bone for implant procedure.

Implants always poss: If there was tooth recently extracted or about to be extracted, possibility excellent an implant can be placed. In marginal situations, very simple grafting is possible to enhance the area for implanting. I far prefer to remove a tooth and immediately place an implant.

Ask Periodontist: In dentistry, debridement refers to the necessary removal of plaque and calculus that have accumulated on the teeth in order to maintain oral health. More loosely, cleaning away or removing whatever. Your periodontist can evaluate whether or not you can have implants and what if anything would be necessary to enhance that possibility, or if not , why not.

Bone Debidement: Bone debridement refers to removing what is called granulation tissue. This is what's left behind when you bone loss. This is typically done when you are having conventional periodontal surgery. This is not done when utilizing LANAP.
