Not sure: Each physician practices differently. I limit ambien (zolpidem) dose to 5 mg in females. I would be more apt to try different options that increasing to 15 mg /night. I also use cranial electrotherapy stimulation and acupuncture to help patients with sleep problems. Have you had a sleep study?

Anxiety, Insomnia: Ambien (zolpidem) dose should not exceed 10 mg at night time. In some patients, the higher morning blood levels following use of the 10 mg dose increase the risk of next day impairment of driving and other activities that require full alertness. Stresses of marriage, separation, parenting, work and finances can cause anxiety, depression and insomnia See a Psychiatrist for Therapy. Relaxation, Meditation

Probably not.: Most guidelines do not recommend ambien (zolpidem) higher than 10 for women and in some cases stick to 5mg. Consider thinking about what other things you may be going through In your life at this time that could be adding to your stress and have an open conversation with your psychiatrist or therapist. Good luck.

Focus upon: Search for the true underlying reason for your severe insomnia. In my opinion, increasing the Ambien (zolpidem) can lead to future tolerance with more sleep issues. Try a different approach or at the least different sleep medications. Ear plugs, eye shades, white noise, may all provide a solution, as might biofeedback therapy.
