A member asked:

If you have pancreatitis but its not flared up and hurting at the time of mri will it still show up? mri was good. pancreatitis still a possibility?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: While MRI is the best way to diagnose pancreatitis using imaging tools, the best test is a blood test, either Amylase, Lipase or both. MRI is very good at seeing inflammation of the pancreas but not perfect. You can have a normal scan and still have it. If you are concerned ask your doctor to repeat the lipase blood test.
