A member asked:

Are beta blockers supposed to keep your heart rate within the 60-70 range or are they just meant to control your heart rate to keep it within 60-100?

Depends on dose & pe: The amount of heart rate lowering depends on the dose and how the individual reacts to that dose. For some, the low dose is sufficient to put the resting heart rate all the way back to 60 bpm (or even 50 bpm); for others, it's a dose-dependent phenomenon: the higher the dose, the lower the resting heart rate. What's appropriate depends on the doctor prescribing the med. TTYD or cardiologist soon.
