YES.: If your cardiologist knows you're taking a beta blocker for your fast heart rate, continue it as directed. A rapid heart rate could cause further complications from the suspected hole in your heart. If for some reason your beta blocker needs to be discontinued, it should be gradually tapered under the guidance of your cardiologist.
