I had a colonoscopy recently and nsaids were ok. my housemate is having one and they say nsaids are not ok. why the differing instructions?

Conventional wisdom: NSAIDs increase your risk of bleeding. If your doctor did not restrict their use, he judges the risk of bleeding to be acceptably low and safe for your procedure. A different doctor may feel less comfortable and prefer to avoid NSAIDs altogether.

Bleeding: NSAID may inhibit cyclooxygenase-1 on platelets. Aspirin causes more and longer-lasting effect than NSAID. The fear is for prolonged bleeding if polyps are removed or biopsies taken. But the risk is small.
