A member asked:

Is using salt good for brushing teeth when i'm bleaching with baking soda?

Professional bleach: What type of bleaching material are you using? Professional monitored and dispensed bleaching is the standard of care for optimal results. Check with your dentist for anything that deviates from this.

No: Salt can be abrasive, scratching the surface of your teeth, making the irregular areas easier to stain and harder to clean. If baking soda really worked for tooth bleaching, Dentists would tell all of their patients to do this. It's really not very effective. To prevent damage to tooth enamel and adjacent gum tissues, it's best if our Dentist monitors your bleaching. See a Pro.

Not Recommended: You may be doing more harm than good when it comes to brushing your teeth with salt and baking soda. OTC safe whitening products (e.g. whitening toothpastes or gel) available today for home use at any pharmacy.
