Talk to Oral Surgeon: It's not just the disc, but also the ligaments that keep the disc in place. Most important to find out why disc has become damaged and treat that problem first, then disc repositioning or replacement can be considered. Please talk to 1) Oral Surgeon to determine health of the joint, and 2) Orthodontist to determine contribution of your occlusion to your joint degeneration.

Autologous graft: Silicon is usually not used since it is not durable enough to withstand the constant motion of the jaw. If the disc needs replacement , usually harvested dermal or fatty tissue from your own body is used. The graft is more able to do limited self repair if tissue is harvested from your body or donor's body. Best to ask your oral surgeon about the type of replacement he is planning to use.

Not recommended: Silicone has a high coefficient of friction and poor wear characteristics, and will thus be worn easily.
