More info?: This could be gout, though there would usually be redness. Rheumatoid arthritis comes to mind but usually no sudden onset and generally more joints that one small finger joint. It would be good to know if there's been any recent trauma, spider bite, stick with a thorn? Does finger ever get stuck when bent?
