Find cause: Insomnia is a symptom which can be caused by many factors. While a med may help temporarily, try to find the cause and treat accordingly. See: https://sleepfoundation.org/insomnia/content/what-causes-insomnia

Find out why: if you have chronicearly insomnia you should have a sleep study to find out why. then an app=appropriate treatment plan can be created. hypnotics, the sleeping pills, are useful for short term insomnia problems. sleep problem lasting longer than 4 weeks should have a sleep study.

Figure out etiology: Perhaps you and your psychiatrist or therapist or even by yourself might be able to figure out what you are having trouble falling asleep. Cutting down stimulants in the evening such as coffee, caffeinated tea or even chocolates can help. Learning relaxation techniques may be helpful. Addressing any drug or alcohol issues can also be helpful

Insomnia: Trazodone , Ambien (zolpidem) and other medication can have good effect for short time, after that they are not effective, and can have side effects. Go to a National Park and Feel Wonder and Peace. Be inspired to look at stresses affecting your sleep. Do Yoga, Tai Chi in evening, later Breathing Relaxation, and Visual imagery of National Parks. It depends: Upon what’s causing your insomnia. Please have an evaluation to determine why you’re suffering from insomnia, what type it is, and if necessary have a sleep study in order to have it appropriately treated. Good luck!
