Like a traffic jam.: It sounds like you are describing pitting edema. Removing a major vein from the leg, will force the blood circulating through the leg and returning to the heart to return through fewer veins. This puts a load on the remaining veins which can lead to swelling unless steps are taken to forestall it. Typically gradient compression hose are prescribed. You might want to consult with a specialist.
