Probably not.: I assume that you were taking generic Ambien; i.e., zolpidem. Thee are occasional generic products that are poorly made and do not provide the benefit. There are also various medical and psychiatric conditions that interfere with effectiveness of Ambien both then and now. Your MD can help answer these questions--better to do so now than have medication failure.

Therapeutic trial: Were you under the care of a health care provider when you were taking Ambien several years ago? Was there a reason that was identified on the loss of efficacy? Have you had an evaluation to assess your sleep hygiene? These would be helpful to determine the potential in the future if this drug may be worth trying again.
