Probably not needed: No treatment is needed if you're not having symptoms, i.e. visible outbreaks of the mouth or genital area. The large majority of people with postive HSV1 blood tests have neither of these and don't need treatment. It's different than HSV2, which is often transmitted sexually in the absence of symptoms, the risk of which can be prevented with antiviral treatment.
