I take 500mg suppression treatment. i noticed a paper cut like soar down there. i called in to get a higher dosage, 1g. i took 3g of the higher valtrex and then had unprotected sex. what is my risk of spreading hsv1 to this person after 3g of valtrex?

Nobody knows: Valtrex helps block the creation of new herpes viruses, but there are still some viruses created. How contagious? Nobody knows for sure. A person who takes an extra 3 grams of Valtrex today still has the same number of viruses today, but probably fewer tomorrow. That's because Valtrex has to get inside cells, and be converted to its active form, and then start blocking the creation of new viruses.
