Needs evaluation: Most of us learn that left-sided chest pain might mean a heart attack, but it is usually with exertion--not lying on your left side. Inflammation of the heart surface or pericarditis can be a cause of positional chest pain as can mitral valve prolapse. You should see your doctor promptly for an evaluation. Good wishes:)
