Keep Moderate: People are told exercise is necessary for osteopenia, but the issue is what is exercise and a brisk walk definitely qualifies and even a moderate walk should prevent further loss. Don't push it. Exercise to the degree you can and as your body heals you can push harder. "Pushing through the pain" could do more harm than good when there is a significant injury.
