A member asked:

I was told i have pcos with an ultrasound showing it but my blood work came back normal. is this possible and what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCOS: There is no blood test that confirms or rules out PCOS. It is clinical diagnosis, based on a combination of symptoms including irregular periods, weight problems, excess body hair growth. One might also see high blood male hormone levels, evidence for insulin resistance, high LH/FSH ratio, and cysts on the ovaries, but these findings are not necessary for a clinical diagnosis of PCOS.
