How do i aproach my dr. about my depression med i feel its not working well enough. can you get withdrawl if you have not had your antidepresent 3 day?

Just be Honest: Your doctor will not be surprised that some medications don't work well enough for a particular person. She may need to adjust the dose, switch to something else, or add another medication. You can go through unpleasant withdrawals, so don't take it upon yourself to just stop the medication. Of course, psychotherapy, exercise, & lifestyle help with depression as well.

Tell her or him. Yes: Your doctor wants to know how the medicine is working (or not). Sometimes it helps to take notes-- maybe you are crying less but also eating differently. Remember that these medicines usually take up to 6 weeks to really work, and that's if you're taking them every day. Not taking them for 3 days can be very unpleasant, depending on the medication.

Antidepessants: Good doctors monitor their patients and communicate well. If you worried how to approach your doc, something is very wrong on the doc. Meds dose need be adjusted at each visit, if not the doc has to declare why he wants to wait another month. For any medical problem, without exception, each visit will lead to dose adjustment or change/add meds, or confront the doc to communicate his planning.

Antidepressant (cont: Additionally, if you cannot call your doc, call your pharmacist to talk but never decide on your own to change how to use the medication. If doc is hard to reach (no excuse!) then email, mail or fax a note to the doc, or leave a note at the clinic, doc cannot receive and not reply to you=he is liable for whatever happen to you if he does not reply to you. Record your own life history of all meds.

Approach doctor: What kind of doc caused his patient to worry about how to approach him/her? All my patients learn to sit down the day before the visit to review with his family what has been his improvements and what has not improved. Then patient would email or fax or just write the result up to bring to the clinic. Worries can be emailed-faxed-mailed between visits. Good doc always plan in advance any contingen.

Be honest: U physician usually has u best interest in mind , therefor u have to be honest with him. As far medication they need to be taken every day in order to work and it can take 4-6 weeks to start working. But even when they work alone they work 45 percent of the time , and with therapy they can work 85.
