A member asked:

What is the significance of a lavi range of 47 (severely abnormal) on a doppler echo if the other tests on the echo are normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diastolic dysfxn: LAVI references left atrial volume, indexed to body surface area. A value of 47 suggests the chamber is larger than normal, and likely related to elevation of pressures in that chamber. This is called diastolic dysfunction, and suggests your heart may be stiff from potential common underlying issues, such as hypertension or aging. It may be asymptomatic and may not cause long-term issues.
