Unlikely: The duration of your symptoms for years makes costochondritis less likely, but may still be contributing if waxing and waning symptoms.
Trial of steroid burst/rapid taper may be adequate to assess if inflammatory component is contributing.
If no response, consider alternative etiologies and work up: GI, pain medicine, etc.
