Start with Pedi: Always start with your Pediatrican. Dermatologists are great resources but usually we save them for the more complicated cases. Pediatricians are well versed in determining whether a referral to a specialist is needed. Good luck!

Pediatrician: Hello. For a small lump that is otherwise asymptomatic, I think it is fine for your toddler to have it evaluated by her pediatrician first. If the lump is in the area where a vaccine was given, it could be a small cyst in the subcutaneous fat of the skin that will resolve in a few months. If the lump is something more unusual, the pediatrician will direct you on the appropriate referral doctor.
