A member asked:

My tongue is swollen, but only on one side (the right), and especially on the bottom where it is connected to my mouth. what should i do? benedryl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good 1st step: Tongue swelling can be due to many reasons but when it doubt taking benadryl (diphenhydramine) is good first choice if no medical reasons to avoid antihistamines. If this has been ongoing for awhile there may be a blockage at the salivary glands or even the veins that drain that side of the tongue. This should be seen by MD very soon to help determine what the cause if. If problems breathing or rapid swelling - ER!
