Other choices: Itching of the palate is not an uncommon symptom with allergies. This could be related to pollen-food allergy syndrome such as eating fresh apple (if you are allergic to birch tree), or melons (if you are ragweed allergic), etc. Trying a different antihistamine may help--like fexofenadine (allegra).

Treatment of allergies includes: 1. Avoidance of the cause - it helps to get skin tested to determine the cause 2. Medicines - a steroid nasal spray may need to be added. 3. Injections - allergy shots help when medicines fail.
