The steps you took by taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) seem reasonable, and going to an urgent care in such a situation can be beneficial because they may be able to give you steroids to bring down swelling, or epinephrin if there is impending throat closure. You should see your physician to discuss what happened and consider getting blood work to test for any food allergies- like shell fish. Additionally, if this happens frequently, you may want to have an Epipen nearby just in case the reaction is so severe that you cannot breathe! good luck and happy eating!
