Inflammation: A slightly low lymphocyte count usually is meaningless. A high erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) indicates an infection or some sort of systemic inflammation. Hundreds of things can cause it. High ESR never gives a clue to any particular diagnosis. It just means additional exams and testing are necessary to learn the cause. Keep working with your doctor.
