Well..: Subchondral means beneath the perichondium (lining over cartilage). Edematous means swollen. Contusion means bruise. I don't think it takes any bruise a year to fully heal.

It varies: It is not uncommon for a contusion such as is this to take a while to heal. However i would make certain that after a couple months of continued pain that it is for the evaluated with an MRI or other testing to ensure that there is no fractures that are just very small and can't be seen.
