A member asked:

I have graves disease. i now have pain, swelling & heat in my ankles & knees. numbness in my hands. is this rheumatoid arthritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: You could have autoimmune thyroid disease causing your graves. This is called Hashimoto's disease. The joint complaints from could be part of an inflammatory type of process, in the family of rheumatoid arthritis but also with other immune possibilities. You need to have your physician have you see a rheumatologist so we can clarify for sure what your diagnosis is
