Your call: Fibroadenomas are benign. They never become cancerous. I personally have had a somewhat smaller one in my R breast since 1983. It is not necessary to have it removed, but many females do for their piece of mind.

No, fibroadenomas: are benign and do not need to be removed. However, if it is painful or bothersome, surgical excision is an option. But they don't turn into cancer.
