Underbite: some of this answer involves how long she has had the braces. correcting the space occurs over time. if she has not had braces for a long time, talk to her orthodontist about how long they think it is going to take.

Depends on the case: before she hits her growth spurt, some cases can be corrected by orthopedic appliance/s and braces.

Underbite: Talk to the orthodontist about your concerns. The treatment will depend on the size and position on the jaw bones. Sometimes braces alone can be the treatment, sometimes surgery is the treatment of choice. Discuss this now with the orthodontist so all of your questions are answered before treatment progresses too far.

Oral surgery consult: Have the orthodontist send all cephlometric and panoramic radiographs to an oral surgeon for a conference with the orthodontist. Most orthognathic surgery is done at a later date but in concert with the orthodontist. It is better to be knowledgeable about the procedures that need to be done before this becomes a refractory case.

Possibly: There is no one correct answer since each case is individually evaluated. Your child's orthodontist is best prepared to discuss the options with you. Together with an oral surgery consultation and skeletal measurements, you will have your answers.

See an orthodontist: When a child is 12 years old, the bones are more malleable and welcoming to adjustment than at a later age. The braces alone can sometimes alleviate the under bite concern. See an orthodontist for examination and opinion.

Depends: Depends on how she grows. Class III malocclusions are difficult to treat. Hopefully your child got her braces from a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist, the practitioner with the best training and experience to treat underbite.
