What is the best way to treat underbite for a 19 year old? will surgery be a risky task?

Jaw distraction is a possible solution, the jaw is put in a brace for up to six weeks to improve the mandible placement, but may take multiple procedures to get the desired effect -discuss or consult with your orthodontist for more information

Treatment of underbite depends on which jaw, or both, is at fault. Please see a specialist Orthodontist for an initial examination. The Orthodontist will be able to give you individualized information and refer you to an Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgeon if indicated. There is risk in all treatment, and these practitioners can discuss alternatives and risk/reward with you.
