A member asked:

I just got over a bad case of bronchitis and am still wheezing a little. is it safe to get a colonoscopy tomorrow? i am scheduled to get one.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably OK: Wheezing after bronchitis is not unusual. You do not receive general anesthesia for a colonoscopy so you will likely be just fine. The anesthesiologist will interview and examine you prior to the procedure. Be sure to mention this to them. They will check your oxygenation and listen to your lungs and if there is any concern, will hold off on the colonoscopy.
