Acute symptoms & fly: May be viral, but if you are wheezing you need to be seen by pcp, urgent care or er. If treated acutely you should be able to fly.

Depends: If one is sick with upper respiratory tract infection that has triggered a wheezing episode then it may not be safe to fly. One has to remember that if one's symptoms were to worsen while in flight at 30000 feet then appropriate medical care may not be immediately available.
