A member asked:

My best friend got the meningitis vaccine a couple days ago and is beginning to show symptoms. headache, muscle pains, rash, etc. is she at risk?

Probably not: Reactions to the meningitis vaccine usually occur within 24 hrs of receiving the vaccine. These can include a low grade fever (below 101) and soreness at the injection site. If your friend has symptoms now, it is most likely due to contracting some other illness. He/she should probably be seen by a doctor.

Mgt: I would suggest checking their temperature. The vaccine reaction should subside within 48 hours. If it does not, then seeing your PCP is advised.
