Perhaps: If all 4 parathyroid glands were cleared at surgery, a diligent search for other sources of parathyroid hormone must be undertaken. Certain tumors such as lymphomas, squamous cell tumors, renal, breast or ovarian tumors may secrete a parathyroid hormone related protein that can mimic parathyroid tumor. Needs further eval. Persistent hi calc: This sometimes happens. If an adenoma was in fact removed, there is likely another. Double adenomas can happen in 5% of cases.
