Sounds serious: No age or specifics about your son make answer difficult & vague. The dr's caring for him likely have sent cultures and are doing testing to identify the source and will support him the the best can be done in an ICU setting. Do your best to have family visit episodically so he knows he has support, even if not awake to interact with them. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well. Good luck!

Sorry to hear this.: Not sure if there is a question here. Icu care can be very complex. Listen to your docs. Fuo doesn't often kill. Most likely causes are historically infection, tumors and connective tissues diseases although modern imaging and lab testing has really reduced all of these. No cause is found for about 50% of fuo.
