A dermatologist is: expert in this area but I do view petroleum jelly as helpful. Consider using Vitamin E oil which can be purchased in the health food store in a little bottle. An alternative is coconut oil. Please consume good fats such as olive oil and / or coconut oil. Avoid junk food because then contain transfats. Avoid skin lotions w/alcohol in them.
