TMD: TMD is commonly caused by bruxism (chronic teeth grinding and/or clenching), and is often stress related. it can also be the result of a bad bite. Discuss this with your dentist and your orthodontist, especially if the symptoms started after you got your braces.

See OFP specialist: Latest research disputes the popular belief that braces can trigger TMJ disorders. See Orofacial Pain specialist for TMJ treatment. Once pain and symptoms free, continue to wear any orthodontic devices, as directed by your orthodontist.
