Just how low?: If the count is between 100000 and 150000, we usually never figure out why and it's not of any concern. The reference range is set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end.

Is it really ?: Platelets have a short life and are constantly replenished by the bone marrow. If it is "too low" you are not making enough or some issue is causing them to be consumed too quickly.This would lead to a office visit and specific tests.Levels 0-90,000 would get my attention.Mild dehydration inflates the number.If your numbers are just below the norm and your doc isn't worried,you shouldn't either
