A member asked:

Hello can mild dehydration raise platelet count? if so would it be a lot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High platelets : Yes, the concentration of platelets can go up in the blood from dehydration. If you remove water from a salt solution by boiling water a similar thing happens. This does not mean that all increases in platelets is from dehydration. Dehydration can also be found in blood tests by looking at sodium levels, BUN, RBC counts. Follow up testing after taking in water should show normalization of levels.
